SODMA Participates in Doha Journalism Forum

The Somalia Digital Media Academy (SODMA) participated in the Doha Forum for Journalism Colleges in the Arab World, which was held in Doha from 14-16 of the current October. The forum discussed the state of journalism colleges in the Arab world and how to develop them in light of the digital media revolution.

Representing the academy, and on behalf of journalism colleges in Somalia, Shafi’i Mohamed Abdi, the Director of Development and Training at SODMA, delivered a speech addressing the reality of journalism in Somalia. He discussed the experience of the Somalia Digital Media Academy, its dedication to developing journalism in Somalia, and the successes it has achieved since its establishment on February 1, 2017. He also highlighted the challenges faced, noting that the academy is a non-profit.
