Prominent Training Courses Launched in Mogadishu

In a significant step towards enhancing the media standard and developing journalists’ skills, unique training courses, encompassing three crucial programs, were initiated in Mogadishu today, Sunday. These courses are part of a media development project implemented by the Al Jazeera Media Institute in collaboration with the Somalia Digital Media Academy (SODMA).

Approximately fifty male and female journalists benefit from these courses, which will last for five days. These journalists work for local and international media outlets, as well as writers and academic researchers.

The first course aims to enhance journalistic writing skills, led by the prominent journalist, Ahmed Jarar. During this course, he covers essential aspects of journalistic editing, helping participants improve their writing and expression quality across various media outlets.

The second course, titled “Mobile Journalism,” educates participants on enhancing their skills in producing and distributing content using mobile devices. This course is led by Samir Namri, an expert in journalism and multimedia.

In the third course, participants will familiarize themselves with narrative methods suitable for digital platforms. This session is overseen by Muntasir Marai, Director of Media Initiatives at the Al Jazeera Media Institute, specializing in digital content development and storytelling.

This initiative reflects Al Jazeera Institute’s efforts to bolster the skills of media professionals and enhance journalism in the Arab region, contributing to local community development. Furthermore, these courses signify the commitment of the Somalia Digital Media Academy (SODMA) to building a robust journalistic foundation and bolstering the role of media in the country.
