The Somali Digital Media Academy (SODMA) was honored and delighted to take part in the closing ceremony of an extensive training program organized by Digital Shelter, an initiative that benefited nearly 100 young Somalis. The graduation event marked the culmination of weeks of dedicated learning, hands-on practice, and personal growth, celebrating a new wave of digitally skilled youth ready to make their mark on Somalia’s media landscape. The ceremony was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organizations unite around a shared vision: empowering young people with practical, future-ready skills.
We extend our warmest congratulations to all the students who successfully completed the training, and we offer special recognition to the 22 young trainees who were jointly trained through the collaboration between SODMA and Digital Shelter. Throughout the program, these talented participants mastered a comprehensive set of media production skills, including visual storytelling, filming, video editing, and photography. These are not just technical abilities — they are the essential tools of modern communication, enabling young Somalis to document their communities, share their perspectives, and compete in the fast-growing digital content industry.

This successful partnership between SODMA and Digital Shelter demonstrates the remarkable impact of collaboration in advancing digital education across Somalia. By combining resources, expertise, and passion, the two organizations have opened doors of opportunity for dozens of young people who now carry the skills and the confidence to build careers in media and technology. As we celebrate these graduates, we also look ahead with optimism, committed to expanding such partnerships and ensuring that even more Somali youth gain access to world-class digital training in the years to come.
